nothing but a
quick fuck
light snack
lunch break
milkshake sparing a few dollars for the cause,
cigarette fairies while the wisemen take their turns
'round the block
"'cause if we all work together, we can all get full off of the Dollar Value Meal!"

solitary streetlamp,
maybe every block or so
decorating the warehouses
with barely an eerie glow

a panic attack
at a quarter to one
praying for xanax and nyQuil
as i come undone
for at least some directions downtown,
or a quick haven in the hills

credit cards that save the day;
worry later how the bill gets paid.
i'm sorry that the sunshine scares me sometimes.
