we give gifts to the giants
a not-so-subtle declaration
of what this feeling means

the high of generosity
piling a grand tally

i'm in this addiction
over and over and over
letting it happen
exposing places, untouched
for fear of all it could bring
and destroy

i spoke of safety in numbers;
was it lost between shades of embarrassment
and the glee of freedom?
